I am not sure that I have ever come right out and said it, but, I love makeup! There is power in makeup. Power to enhance what is already beautiful. We don’t need makeup. It sure is grand fun though, don’t you think? I do not have the greatest skin in the world. Sometimes blemishes win the battle – I have scaring from past cystic acne. Makeup is a fantastic camouflage for those not so great spots. I wear makeup because it enhances my best parts and that makes me feel more confident.
And you know what? There is nothing wrong with feeling confident! With or without makeup. The foundation of beauty, cosmetic or natural, is being who you are, who you want to be, and having fun while doing it!
For this look I headed to Target and grabbed everything that I needed – eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, concealer, highlighter, blush and lipstick! Whenever I want to try a new look and need new cosmetics for it, I head to the  essence cosmetics panel in the beauty section at Target. I can get everything that I need for a makeup look without breaking the bank and without compromising on quality. Quality cosmetics are essential for a fantastic finished look! If you need high quality, on-trend makeup, run by Target and pickup the essentials from the essence panel!

BLUSH SUMMER MAKEUP TUTORIAL
Easy. Affordable. Effortless.
I collaborated with essence cosmetics at Target for this easy, affordable, and effortless look! I picked up all of the products that I needed [ and many more 😉 ] for well under $20. Can I get some praise hands! Today I’m sharing my favorite blush summer makeup tutorial with y’all! I hope you love this natural, feminine look and give it a try yourself!
First things first – Moisturize freshly cleaned skin and pop your hair up into a little half top-knot. Because we might as well look darn cute while putting makeup on! Once your skin is prepped and flyaway hairs are all pulled back, jump right in!

For this look I focused on soft blushes from the essence All About Eyeshadow Roses Palette, pulling from natural pink hues for a feminine, soft, and chic look! I snatched this palette up for $5. It has eight perfectly balanced shadows that you can build soft daytime and smokey evenings look from easily!

• Start by applying the pale pink shadow, from the highlight quad on the left of the palette, all over the lid to create a blush canvas for the rest of this look. With a crease brush, blend the taupe/pink shadow from the lowlights quad on the right, into the crease. Focus this shade heavy in the outer corners of the crease.

This look utilizes a soft cat-eye. We all love the crisp, sultry cat eye, but, we are all unique and not every eye shape can sport the classic sharp cat eye. I used the Kajal Pecil eyeliner in black [ under $2 ], and blended it out softly, with a liner brush, for a gentle flick.
• Cat eyes can be tricky. Use a strip of scotch tape [ press tape on your hand twice so its not too sticky ] under the outer corner of the lash line, along the bottom lash line, at a slight upward angle. Draw the flick on with eyeliner and blend out with a liner brush. Remove tape gently. Voilà! Cat eye.

• Curl lashes and apply a coat of mascara. I used the essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara. It makes them look fuller which is exactly what we’re going for! And it only costs $5. That’s lash happiness right there.

TIP: After the mascara dries, curl lashes again and apply a second coat of mascara. Focus mascara on ends of lashes for a fuller, longer look.

• Next, apply your favorite primer and foundation. I am very fair skinned, and I have some unevenness around my jaw/lower cheek, so I use a brightening/smoothing primer that is just right for me. Use whatever primer works for your skin, and then apply an even layer of tinted moisturizer or full coverage foundation.

• Now on to brows! Brows are key to framing the face and drawing attention to the eyes. Fill in your brows with your favorite brow styler, starting at the arch. Fill the color in slightly strong on the tail of the brow, and softer at the front nearest the inner corner of the eye. I use a universal light brow styler.

Apply concealer in a triangle shape under eyes and blend in with ring finger [ it’s the best way to truly blend the product in ]. The Say No To Dark Circles is my favorite concealer! It comes in a chubby stick for easy application and provided excellent coverage. At only $2 it’s a fantastic buy!

Highlighter is every girl’s friend! Bringing light to the high points of the face wakes up this summertime look and creates soft light catching angles. The essence Soo Glow Cream Highlighter is hands down the best highlighter I have ever used. It goes on light and it easy to blend in if you want just a little shine. I picked up the ‘brighten up your life’ blush shade for this look [ just $3 ] and it couldn’t be more perfect for my pale skin. If you are fair, definitely give this highlight a try!

• Highlight the top of the cheekbones, tip of the nose, top bridge of the nose, brow bones, cupid’s bow, and chin.

• Apply contour from the center of ear and two inches forward under cheekbones. It will create a soft warm shadow giving the illusion of more structured cheekbones. Dust bronzer around temples and along hairline for a soft sun kissed glow.

Pop blush “between” highlight and contour, on the high point of the cheeks just along the bone. I used the Silky Touch Blush in the shade Babydoll [ $3 ].

Now for the lips! I cannot get enough of matte liquid lipstick right now, but, for this look I went with something lighter with a touch of shine. I paired the Sheer & Shine Lipstick in Sparkling Miracle [ $2 ] with XXXL Shine Lipgloss [$2]  in Big Night Out for a perfectly blush shade of lip color.

• Apply a thin layer of coconut oil to lips and then apply lipstick as base color. Pop lipgloss on top to finish the lips with shine.

And there you have it! That is my easy breezy summertime makeup look. I wear some version of this about four times a week – kicking’ it barefaced the rest of the week! This look only takes fifteen minutes and looks effortless. The flush of pink and soft highlights give a natural healthy glow!

What’s Inside My Blog Bag

whats-inside-my-blogging-bag
As a blogger it is important to foster creativity and find ways to fuel it more. One of my favorite ways to get rid of writer’s block and find inspiration for new ideas is to get out of my cozy little nook in the house and take blogging on-the-go. Getting out of my normal routine, finding a table in a local café or bench by the park, provides a wonderful change of scenery and helps me find fresh inspiration!
Today I am sharing all of the on-the-go blogging essentials that I keep handy plus some tips to help you create your own blogging bag! #hustleonthego

INSIDE MY BAG – THE ESSENTIALS

Bag  |  Obviously, I need a bag to carry all of my essentials in. I opted for a large [ and I might say stylish ] computer bag. I love this bag – it is specifically made to fit/carry a laptop and has plenty of pockets for everything that I need to carry with me – keeping things neat and organized. It is the starting point to a successful hustle-on-the-go blog bag!

Laptop & Charger |  Bringing along my laptop and charger is a given. Obviously these are essentials because blogging would be impossible without them!

Earbuds |  I work much better when there is soft music playing over the sounds of the café. I love being around all of the chatter and laughter, but, music helps me settle into writing. So earbuds are essential! I have a blogging playlist with my favorite tracks. It is full of moving ballads and catchy tunes.

SToK™ Cold Brew Coffee & Travel Bottle |  I always need iced coffee to get me through a blogging session. A little pick-me-up to fuel my creativity. I like to grab a bottle of SToK™Cold Brew Iced Coffee from my local Kroger and take it with me! SToK™ has some delicious flavors to choose from but I like the ‘Not Too Sweet’ 48oz bottle best. A girl’s gotta have her coffee in abundance. I have a travel thermos bottle that I put my slow brewed Not Too Sweet black coffee in to keep it chilled while i’m on-the-go.

I do my best creative thinking when I have coffee in my system! SToK™is my favorite coffee because of it’s strong, bold flavor. It’s a full on bottle of inspiration! It is slow brewed and cold brewed [ the best always is ] and it is pure coffee with no funky ingredients. Be still my natural, wholesome heartKroger carries multiple sizes [ all the praise hands ] – You can get the Not Too Sweet, Vanilla, and Mocha coffee in handy 13oz bottles if you need a smaller burst of creativity-fuel.

Notebook & Calendar | Writing things down with pen on paper is something that I practice often. It’s easy to jot down an idea or list on my iPhone, but, for me, pen and paper has more impact on the growth of that idea. Seeing things written out makes ideas come to life. A notebook for those ideas/lists and a calendar are essentials for planning and outlining future posts and projects!

Pen & Notecards |  I always keep a few notecards in my blog bag to jot down notes or sketch out a small outline of a posts structure. I also keep a smooth gliding pen [ and a few mechanical pencils + a blue ink pen ] in my bag. It doesn’t hurt that it’s also a pretty white pen. Gotta love that clean minimalism.

CREATING YOUR OWN BLOG BAG

Before you put your blogging/creative bag together ask yourself these questions to determine exactly what functions you need in a bag and what items to carry along.
What needs does your bag need to meet? [ laptop/iPad storage, lots of pocket space. . ]
Do you need fuel for your body to keep a little pep in your step? [ granola bar, trail mix, your favorite iced coffee. . ]
– What power cords do you need? [ laptop, iPad, phone.. ]

– Will you be handwriting notes? What are your pen and paper needs? [ pens, pencils, a notepad.. ]
Are you planning posting dates? What do you need for that? [ a hardcopy calendar and/or a planner.. ]
Do you need writing music? Create a blogging playlist with your favorite songs. Pick songs that help inspire you! [ Don’t forget your earbuds! ]

Most importantly – What do you actually need to have with you to inspire ideas, stay organized, and boost productivity? Think through the essentials that YOU need and make sure you do not overload your bag. Take what is necessary and leave the rest!

PACK IT UP – HIT THE ROAD

After you decided exactly what you need to blog [ hustle ] on-the-go, pack everything neatly and hit the road! My blog bag is organized for ease of access to each item that I need and the order that I generally use them. Pack your bag in the order that works best for you, and makes using each essential easy. Organization is key!

Let’s be completely real for a sec. It’s summer and we want have our food and and eat it too! You know, like cake. A healthy, filling snack that doesn’t compromise on flavor is one heavenly bite. The thing that I love most about this appetizer is how utterly guilt free it is, but, oh my, is it satisfying!

Snacking is my downfall. I love a hearty meal, but, snacks [ or appetizers ] get me every time. The challenge with snacking is finding healthful options that truly satisfy, not just flavor-wise, but, satisfy your hunger too. One of my favorite healthful snacks are TRISCUITS. You can top them with the classics [ cheese or peanut butter ] or you can top them with artisan toppings like prosciutto, mozzarella, pear, and dried sweet basil!

That is exactly what I have done! I am pushing the snacketiser [ look at me making up words! ] to a new level, by pairing hearty toppings with rich TRISCUIT flavors like Mediterranean Olive, in a crostini style bite!

I stopped by Walmart and grabbed the TRISCUIT Mediterranean Style Olive and TRISCUIT Original crackers, along, with everything else needed for this delicious appetizer! You can put this appetizer together in a matter of minutes, and the flavors are completely customizable. By the way – have you tried the  Smoked Gouda TRISCUITS? So, so good! Grab the flavor the appeals to you and top with any number of delectable combos. Here’s to snacking happy and healthy!

Ingredients:
– 20 TRISCUIT Mediterranean Olive Crackers
– 1 pear
– ¼ cup fresh mozzarella
– 5 slices of Prosciutto ( Italian style ham )

Assembly:
Step 1.  Begin by prepping all of the ingredients. Slice thin pieces of pear [ at an angle ], pull apart mozzarella into chunks, and tear prosciutto into long small pieces.

Step 2. First, fold the prosciutto on top of itself in a neat pile and layer on top of the TRISCUIT Mediterranean Olive Crakcers. Top with a hearty chuck of mozzarella, then place the pear slice on top.

+ We eat with our eyes first! Make the toppings more appealing to the eye by creating contrast. Place the toppings on the cracker in different directions and include colorful ingredients!

Step 3. Sprinkle with dried sweet basil.

Step 4. Serve and enjoy!!

These crostini style appetizers are the perfect bite! Flavorful, filling, and actually pack a pretty healthy punch. How’s that for tasty snacking!
